Position Overview
This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both fundraising and office administration within a community-focused non-profit organization. Working closely with the fundraising and administrative teams, the successful candidate will support event planning, donor engagement, communications, and annual campaign activities while also assisting with day-to-day office operations.
Essential Job Functions
- Assist with planning and supporting fundraising events, community engagement activities, and campaign-related initiatives.
- Help develop outreach materials, including social media posts, event promotions, and donor communications.
- Conduct basic research on donors, sponsors, grants, and community partners.
- Support donor stewardship through thank-you messages and preparing acknowledgement packages.
- Support with building materials for the United Way annual workplace campaign.
- Preparing the workplace campaign landing page and materials.
- Collaborating in any grant writing processes that may occur during your time with the UWC SDG.
- Assisting the Marketing and Communications team with content strategy and implementation for year end giving campaign.
- Provide reception support by answering phones, greeting visitors, and responding to general inquiries.
- Assist with scheduling, meeting preparation, and note-taking.
- Prepare documents, reports, and internal communications as needed.
- Support day-to-day office operations to ensure smooth workflow for staff and volunteers.
Requirements/Skills
- Must be between 15 and 30 years of age
- Motivated, passionate, confident and able to work both independently and in a team
- Proficienecy with Microsoft office and applications
- Proficiency with digital and social media platforms
- Ability to connect with people
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Creative and outgoing
- Bilingual (asset)
Team Support
- Participate in team meetings and ensure a clear vision of priorities and needs for the assigned tasks
- Collaborate to develop and/or modify policies and procedures related to fundraising and volunteers.
- Support fellow staff members on projects.
- Any other tasks required by the Executive Director.
Working Conditions
- Office environment – extended lengths of time sitting at a desk using a computer and phone
- Some travel required to attend special events and functions
- Overtime, weekends, and evenings on some occasions
- Flexible schedule to compensate for increased workload on some days
Technology & Equipment
- Computer –proficiency in programs including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, PowerPoint
- Computer – Experience with design software such as Canva
Hours of Work/Renumeration
- 35 hours/week for 8 weeks at $22.20 (incl 4% vacation)

- Motivated to learn more about the Charitable sector in this region and advocate for the social well-being of the residents of SDGC&A
- Strong organizational, planning and time management skills
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
- Consistently represent the organization in a positive and professional manner
- Ability to work remotely when necessary
