For nearly five years, I have proudly called Cornwall my home. Originally from Kingston, Ontario, I made the move to Cornwall. Ever since my arrival, I have been embraced by the warmth of this wonderful community. Joining the United Way Board of Directors felt like a natural extension of my commitment to service, allowing me to engage on a deeper level and help foster positive change within the community.

I bring a diverse set of skills and perspectives shaped by both my professional and personal experiences. Throughout my career, I have developed strong leadership and strategic planning abilities, honed through managing teams in various nonprofit organizations. My background in community outreach has given me insight into the challenges faced by different populations, which allows me to approach issues with empathy and understanding. I have a passion for collaboration and believe in the power of community partnerships, which is crucial for the mission of United Way. On a personal level, my lived experiences have offered me a unique lens through which I view the world. Navigating socio-economic challenges has instilled a deep commitment to social justice and equity. I am dedicated to advocating for those whose voices are often unheard, ensuring that our programs reflect the needs of our community. Together, these skills and experiences enable me to contribute meaningfully to the United Way Board of Directors and to the greater community we serve.

A pressing issue is food insecurity. Many families in our community face challenges in accessing nutritious meals, which affects their health and productivity. By supporting food pantries and meal programs, the United Way can help ensure that everyone has access to the essential nutrition they need. Additionally, affordable housing is a significant concern. Many individuals and families are at risk of homelessness due to rising housing costs. Addressing this issue can create stable living conditions, which are foundational for overall well-being. Finally, mental health support is increasingly recognized as a crucial area needing attention. Many people struggle with mental health challenges but lack access to proper care and resources. By funding mental health programs, the United Way can help build a healthier community overall. These issues are interconnected and addressing them through the United Way can lead to transformative changes for individuals and families in our community.
