2024 Tampon Tuesday in SDGCA

Published on March 05, 2024

We’re bringing back Tampon Tuesday to our region! Starting March 8, this three-week campaign’s goal is to collect menstrual hygiene product donations to help those in need. Period.

Tampon Tuesday, a grassroots campaign about dignity, aims to highlight the struggles and stigmas around period poverty. In 2023, research conducted by Plan International Canada found that 25% of women in Canada who menstruate had to choose between buying menstrual products and paying for other essentials like food and rent. 20% said they weren’t sure if they could afford these products in the next 12 months.

That’s why we want to work together to end the stigma around period poverty in SDGCA by collecting donations to ensure that anyone who needs these necessary products has access to them. No one should have to choose between food, utilities, rent or menstrual products.

In 2023, we ran our third Tampon Tuesday product drive in this region, and this community blew us away by showing up to support. We received an impressive 1300+ product donations and $2500 in cash. Donated products were distributed to 18 organizations across our large region. Can we do it again?

Donations will be collected from March 8 – 26, 2024 throughout Cornwall and SDG, and we will be hosting our second annual Stuff the Bus courtesy of Cornwall Transit with menstrual hygiene products on March 26 at Shoppers Drug Mart (Brookdale)!
